OUR VISION

To protect the public through a continuous, cost effective, and sustainable State of Readiness that is resistant to foreign and domestic terrorist threats, and prepared for natural disasters.

OUR MISSION

To provide emergency management and terrorism prevention services to the citizens of Maryland through an All Hazards Approach that builds on the creative coordination of existing state functions and local resources such as emergency management, law enforcement, fire, and communications.

The Maryland Emergency Management Agency (MEMA), which is part of the Maryland Military Department, provides logistical and infrastructure support to the Office of Homeland Security. MEMA manages many of the federal grants funding a broad range of initiatives leading to enhanced protection from and responses to the full range of natural and man-made disasters which could threaten our citizens.
