February 14, 2007

Audio

Governor O’Malley:  Hello.  This is Governor Martin O’Malley.

Mr. Franchot:  And Maryland Comptroller Peter Franchot.

Governor O’Malley:  Right now is a very exciting time for our great State.  We have a new administration in place that has fresh ideas and an intensified commitment to restore the Chesapeake Bay.

Mr. Franchot:  But we can’t do it alone.  We need your help.  You can make a difference by contributing to the Maryland Bay Fund.  Just check Line 37 on your Maryland State income tax form.

Governor O’Malley:  You can donate a dollar or a thousand dollars and your contribution is put to good use, as 90 cents of every dollar received goes directly toward Bay restoration and education programs.

Mr. Franchot:  Since 1985 the Chesapeake Bay Trust has awarded more than $20 million in grants that have helped restore our Bay.  But it’s critical that we do more right now.  Ask your tax preparer today how you can help.

Governor O’Malley:  Maryland, this can be a new era in Bay restoration.  We need every person.  Check Line 37 at tax time to do your part.

Learn more at Chesapeakebaytrust.org.  Let’s step up and deepen our commitment to the restoration of our Bay.
