March 26: Making Government Work: Our Dedicated State's Employees
Dear Friend,
On Monday, we came together to mark an important milestone: for the first time in five years, we have forged a consensus to restore the partnership between hardworking State employees and their government.
As we continue to make government more efficient and effective, implementing a system of performance management and accountability called "StateStat," we remain committed to the people who have chosen to serve others through public service.
As a state, we have been unafraid to set tough goals and measure our progress weekly, but only because we know we can rely on the more than 80,000 devoted State employees who work hard every single day to improve service delivery and defend our quality of life.
We have already taken great strides, expanding affordable health care to 100,000 more Marylanders, holding the line on college tuition for the third year in a row, and passing the first living wage in the nation. But there is more to do.

Now, with the help of our State employees, we have the ability to make our government work again on behalf of the best interests of the people of Maryland. And that is what we are going to do. Our families deserve a state government that works as hard as they do.
Sincerely,
Martin O'Malley
Governor
